This Shareware version of the HERBAL BROWSER (copyright 1994-96)
program permits you to browse through descriptions of 222
different herbs useful in the treatment of 68 different human
sicknesses, complaints, ailments and problems. Many of the
herbs have other uses as well. Some are nutritious foods or are
used as flavorings, spices, etc. in various culinary pursuits.
Other herbs are used as dyes or for their beneficial effect on
the care of the skin and hair. Others have pleasant aromas and
are used in sachets, pot-pourris and pillows.
DISCLAIMER
The information provided in this program is NOT intended for
prescribing medications or for curing ailments. The various uses
for the herbs presented in this document are their historical
uses as described in the literature. Since herbs may affect each
person differently we recommend that you consult a medical
professional if you are experiencing health problems.
This hypertext document contains:
1. A short history of the ways in which man has made use of
herbs over the centuries.
2. A glossary of 402 terms used in the text.
3. A description of some 222 herbs containing their common
names, Latin names and a list of other names they are known by,
the part(s) of the plant that are used, a description of the
preparation and medicinal and other uses together with a brief
description of the herb and cultivation tips for growing them.
4. A list of 68 illnesses or complaints are also presented
together with treatment procedures and recipes that have
historically provided symptomatic relief.
5. A list of the 30 books used in the preparation of this
herbal.
6. An index containing the 1780 keywords used to cross reference
the herbal. Selection of any of these will display all the
occurrences of that keyword within this document and permit you
to access that information. Pressing <F1> displays the HELP file
